[A heart connection.....]

I popped along to the Art Trunk
 market night on Friday
and was immediately mesmerized
by the visual feast that greeted me...

We toured around the different rooms
soaking up the deliciousness of the class offerings
and beautiful pieces for sale...

and was absolutely thrilled when I met Robyn in person....
I had no idea that she would be there
and we recognised each other immediately....
I borrowed this pic from Robyn...
we have been virtual friends for around ten years now
so you can imagine how wonderful it was
to finally meet her in person....

so after my little spend up
I popped back to watch this lovely lady paint..

her work connected with my heart
and
I knew in that moment that I had to do Kecia's workshop....
as fate would have it.... there was a space left in her class...

so I signed up.... gathered supplies
and came back on Sunday....
so very excited to see what lay ahead...

on arrival... I was treated to a gorgeous goodie bag
and mixed media name tag...
that just made my day even more special....

and I spent the day painting...

and being pushed out of my comfort zone...
it was AWESOME...

one of the things that I just LOVE about Kecia's work
is that her pieces tell a story...

and I didn't realize it at the time
but as the little characters began to appear from the background
I understood what the painting meant to me...

two little animals
the two sides of me
one little character holding the kite string in his mouth
playful, fun loving.... living in the moment...
the other.... the little dog with a more hesitant....
 startled look...
overthinking... cautious....
and the gentle gaze of a
tribal/intuitive being...
his arm warmly reassuring
to keep pushing through...

I guess sometimes you just have to let go
and see what happens...

I will leave you with this photo bomb

blurry as it is...

It was an amazing day....
I am so glad that I made that impromptu decision...
Kecia was a sweetheart....
so kind hearted and giving...
I learnt SO much...
 met some lovely people
and have already decided that I will be saving my dollars
for the next time this wonderful retreat hits my doorstep :)

[Reworking a canvas....]

We meet ourselves.... time and again
in a thousand disguises on the path of life..
....Carl Jung

Some time ago.... I began this painting....

it began with collage...
and then some abstract work...
which was then covered in mountain of book paper lol
from there I didn't know where to go with it...
so it was popped into the closet
where it stayed.....
well..... until yesterday....

yesterday I pulled it out...
to rework it....
added some pretty collage papers....
some paint...

and turned on the music....
He is a rare gem...
and his music has me under its spell...

and I played...

and before I knew it...

it had begun

to transform...

into this....
I like it much better now :)

[Sweet Family.....]

Follow your dreams....
They know the way....

Well.... it seems like forever since my last blog post...

my gorgeous mum and dad booked a holiday on the Coast
for three weeks to visit us all....
and ended up staying for three months....

we had the very BEST time...
so much laughter... so much fun...
it was super hard to say goodbye...

Amidst all that fun...
I celebrated a birthday...
and was so completely spoilt...
this photo with my grand children
makes my heart spill over :)

So there hasn't been a lot of art happening....
more... big blocks of beautiful family time...
but I did manage to put some paint to canvas..

the green collage paper in the bottom corner
reads 'smile'  :)

I even pulled out the stamps....

it felt good to get painty again X

[Billy Bunting.....]

"The advice I like to give young artists, or really anybody who'll listen to me, is not to wait around for inspiration. Inspiration is for amateurs; the rest of us just show up and get to work. If you wait around for the clouds to part and ...a bolt of lightning to strike you in the brain, you are not going to make an awful lot of work. All the best ideas come out of the process; they come out of the work itself. Things occur to you. If you're sitting around trying to dream up a great art idea, you can sit there a long time before anything happens. But if you just get to work, something will occur to you and something else will occur to you and something else that you reject will push you in another direction. Inspiration is absolutely unnecessary and somehow deceptive. You feel like you need this great idea before you can get down to work, and I find that's almost never the case."
.....Chuck Close

A little

whimsical puppy

showed up

in my painting

today...

I named him
Billy Bunting :)

[A week with Arty Friends....]

Your wings already exist...
All you have to do is FLY...

One WHOLE week with amazing
and inspiring arty friends....
it doesn't get much better than that...

We walked along the beach....

and we shopped...

indulged.... laughed....
chatted and chatted and laughed some more....

and we created lots and lots of art...
these resin pendants were the result of
just one morning's play...

It was Jen's birthday whilst we were together...
and I felt so lucky to be able to celebrate
with her in person...

here is the card I made to go
with her pressies :)

and...
 we had our mini journal
group swap as well....
this is mine...

3 x 3 inches....

I loved creating it

so much....

I truly

do cherish

our swaps...

and it was fun

to work so small...

and I just couldn't resist packaging
them in little paper bags :)

and in return...
oh my gosh.... totally blown away....

from Clare... this gorgeous little bound book...

take a peek inside at it's utter deliciousness....

from Wendy....  the tiniest of them all...

and just so dear and beautiful inside as well...

from Lynne...

an absolute darling.... filled with inspiring little quotes....

and from Jen...

this little sweetheart made from teabags, fused plastic and
tree bark...

I absolutely ADORE each and every one...

our week together was nothing short of magical...
 soul rejuvenating...
I came away utterly inspired...
and with memories I will treasure forever...

Eternally grateful for sweet soul sisters....

Hope your week was a gorgeous one as well dear friends...
